Remember that the Dutch SNS bank announced they would become the first in the world to offer a MSN Payment system? Well, they did not really announce it but the information leaked on Emerce. Oops. A proof of their problem with confidentiality. I expressed my doubts about the system since MSN can hardly be considered secure.
Today they made another, bigger, mistake. This time showing they don't know anything about proper e-mail use and privacy. They send an e-mail to everybody who registered with Buddy to tell them the Buddy system will become active. They send an e-mail and put all the Buddy members in the CC field of the e-mail, exposing thousands of addresses. (screendump by Geenstijl.nl). This is a very clear and direct violation of their own Privacy Policy.
Glad I didn't sign up.
Phishing anybody?
Update: LogicaCMG developed this brilliant Buddy system for NSN.
New Microsoft Longhorn chief is indigestion expert: Mike Sievert
"By placing a bottle of Pepto-Bismol® at the heart of the American home, he single handedly saved many a celebration from turning into a drive-by projectile vomiting incident."

Two news items that make an interesting combination. The first one is that the Ducth SNS bank will introduce online banking using MSN (buddybanking). The second one: IM malware threat skyrockets (zdnet).
"81 percent of reported incidents included IM virus or worm propagation, of which 10 percent were able to hijack file transfers. Thirteen percent of incidents used known exploits, and 70 percent targeted Microsoft's MSN service."
SNS bank is so proud to be the first bank in the world to offer bancking services over MSN. But why do you think no other bank is doing it? Probably because they know it's not secure and are afraid to implement it. Remember last October, Microsoft forced users of MSN 7 to downgrade because serious security issues.
Who in their right minds will use Buddybankig?
I know! Hackers, but they just won't use their own bankaccount.
By now you probably heard that the phone of Paris Hilton was hacked.
Here's all her the info: http://www.parishiltonsmobile.com/
And it turned out that the T-mobile Netherlands website was very easy to hack. After you logged in it placed a cookie on your machine with your username. Replacing the username with another would give you direct access to that person's personel pages. And you can guess that there must be one named "john" :) Was in you could send text messages or change the subscribers address.....
Shit! I'm a t-mobile client as well! This aint funnt nomore.....
Update: I forgot to mention Martijn Brinkers discovered the My T-mobile NL flaw.

A house burglar was caught after a webcam on the owner's computer recorded images of him carrying out the raid. Police said it was a "brilliant idea" of software engineer Duncan Grisby, who set it after a previous burglary.
Mr Grisby said the system was easy to set up. "There are lot of products for Windows that you can use to do this - though I used some free software and wrote some extra software myself."

Moscow-based Kaspersky Labs was asked last weekend how to disinfect the onboard computers of several Lexus models: LX470, LS430 and Landcruiser 100. The security company was told that the infection likely occurred via a mobile phone."

You just have to loooove the design of the new Apple iMac G5.
Watch out, anytime you share your userid and password you're potentially committing or facilitating a felony, in the US that is. If you subscribe to, for example, the New York Times website (a free login) and let someone else log in with your userid, you might end up in the slammer -- at least if you appear before Judge Buchwald.
That's what you get with lawmakers and judges who's password is their wife's or cat's name. They just don't understand security, and i'm not claiming i do. But at least i know enough to know i don't know enough.

What will the refrigerators of the future be like?
How about a refrigerator that detects the shelf life of your food and informs you about it, or one that automatically displays a list of items stored in the fridge on the door? Ofcourse wirh a 10.4 inch TFT-LCD to watch tv, you can even hook on your DVD player. Plug in the network cable (why is it not wireless?) and you can send and recieve e-mail as well.
