We're very early this year... we've decided we'll visit the US West coast in december. I hope that we have enough money to add a couple of days on Hawaii, spend Christmas on the beach :)
Yesterday i went to some travel agencies to get brochures, for some reason those paper brochures are more fun to read then websites. The otherwise friendly ladies at those agencies gave me funny looks when i asked for the winter 2004/05 brochure.
I'd really like to visit Las Vegas, Los Angeles and specially San Francisco. Does anyone have any suggestions as what to see, visit, do and where to stay? We still have plenty of time :)
February 2004 Archives
Arg... sombody please fire my colleque. He's late at least twice a week and managed to be more than 1,5 hour late three times in four weeks! Which is bad enough already but specially because twice he was supposed to open the Helpdesk at 7.30. And today, he was just 7 minutes late, he has some kind of memory loss. He doesn't know how to add users to the system and even forgot what time he started working today. I'm just waiting for him to ask my name, or his own.
My memory is great, and i remember that he said something about music soundig better on drugs.... and i know it's monday so maybe it has to do with this?
I sheduled my first Microsoft exam for monday march 8th. Windows 2000 Professional. I hope they don't ask why they called it that. There's no Amateur edition so why call this one Proffesional. Other than that i'm confident i'll pass.
What happend? We moved, again... But i'm happy to tell you that most boxes are unpacked and the ADSL connection is working so i'll be posting again. I do hope that our next move will be to the US.
I want one two :) One for me and one for Sweety.
What else can i say about this, a picture says more than a thousand words.
Specially a 360° movie.
Finally we'll be moving to a place of our own again! The cats sense that something is about to happen and don't like it at all. But we're sure they'll like the extra space in our new house :)
Wooden shoes abroad... going Dutch in the US capital.
A great site of a Dutch couple that moved to the US in 2000. On their Weblog they (Anouk mostly) give us an inside look of the Dutch way in the USA :) It's funny to read how she experiences the US from a Dutch point of view. Now, go take a look!
IFILM's 3rd Annual Super Bowl Ads Extravaganza!
Watch the Super Bowl 2004 ads in RealVideo, Quicktime or Windows Media. They have them all: Dodge, Budweiser (a lot), Pepsi, Mastercard and more!
Yesterday the bus on my way to work was crowded, it was full. And even then itīs often quiet in Dutch busses, people donīt talk. Specially on a rainy monday morning.
So i was standing there, minding my own business and standing next to me was a girl, also in her twenties i guess and also minding her own business. Just out of the blue a lady, in her fourties, sitting at the window seat, turned towards the girl standing next to me and said "Lady, do you know how to knit?". The girl tried to ignore it but the lady repeated her question, "Lady, lady, do you know how to knit?". The girl shifted in my direction but there was little space. The lady then tapped the girl on the arm and asked again, "Lady, do you know how to knit?". The girl decided it was probably best to just awnser the question. "No, i donīt", she started to turn red, looking my way for help. I just smiled friendly, i like these kind of things even on monday morning.
The lady that had asked the question looked a bit dissapointed with the awnser. Then she said "And do you know how to hook?". The girl looked confused and didnīt awnser. The lady turned her head and looked out the window at the rain falling down on the cold monday morning streets of The Hague.
The girl looked a bit relieved, the morron seemed to have lost interest. Just a she started to feel secure again i look her in the eye and said "It can be very handy to know how to knit." It was my stop, i left the bus, the girl looked as if she was having a bad LSD trip....
What's the point Sweety asked me... what's the point staying up for the Super Bowl.... And i didn't stay up for the halftime show... after all, what's the point... pfff... now i missed Janet's Super Bowl Breast!
Watch the nipple slip video (after the Dutch commercial) of Janet Jackson and her breast... Maybe she can enter next years Boobie-Thon, if there is one.
Thereīs a growing anti-America sentiment in Europe and now also in The Netherlands. The government owned tv stations go out of their way to show how stupid Americans are and how going to war in Iraq was a bad, bad thing to do. Now, maybe the Dutch news agencies just missed the story about Saddam supporters receiving lucrative oil contracts, because they where busy with the 'Dike flood threat'. But i donīt think so. I think a story that explains that some where against the war in Iraq because of oil interests, doesnīt fit into the anti-American storytelling.
George Galloway, a British member of Parliament and vocal critic of the Iraq war, received 19 million barrels of oil from Sadam, a $9.5 million profit. Indonesia President Megawati Sukarnoputri, an outspoken opponent of U.S.-Iraq policy, received a contract for 10 million barrels of oil about a $5 million profit.
This all accoring to ABCNEWS.
Wow, i need to travel more! I've visited just 4% of the countries in the world! Take a look at my map and make your own map at World66.
